Professor Ben Miranda | Leading Plastic & Cosmetic Surgeon in London & Essex
What is Blepharoplasty, Eyelid Reduction Surgery, Eye Lift Surgery or Eye Bag Removal Surgery | London & Essex?
Professor Ben Miranda performs blepharoplasty, eyelid reduction surgery, eye lift surgery or eye bag removal surgery in London Harley Street & Essex (Chelmsford & Southend). Excess eyelid skin is removed, fat is removed or repositioned, and the supporting tissues of the eyelid tightened to provide a highly effective treatment for the signs of aging around the eyes. Patients achieve an improvement in the drooping or hooding of their eyelids, and an improvement in their vision if the eyelids droop into their field of vision.
How is Blepharoplasty, Eyelid Reduction Surgery, Eye Lift Surgery or Eye Bag Removal Surgery Performed | London & Essex?
Professor Ben Miranda performs both upper and lower blepharoplasty, eyelid reduction surgery, eye lift surgery and eye bag removal surgery. Upper blepharoplasty involves removing the excess upper eyelid tissue under local anaesthetic, adjusting the underlying muscle and removing excess fat that is bulging and contributing to the upper eyelid bags; an extremely fine suture is then used to stitch the skin together and is subsequently removed at 7 days. While all surgery results in scars, they usually start to fade early at 2-4 weeks following upper eyelid blepharoplasty, during which time they becomes less noticeable and easy to conceal with make-up; in general, most of the scarring is not immediately visible with your eyes open. In many cases the scarring becomes hardly noticeable by 3 months post-operatively and continues to fade even further after this point. Professor Ben Miranda performs lower eyelid blepharoplasty under sedation or general anaesthetic, hiding most of the incisions inside the lower eyelid, then either removing or re-draping any bulging fat to smooth out the appearance of lower eyelid bags. Following your blepharoplasty surgery, you will need to wear a cool-gel mask at night and sleep propped up for several weeks to help rapidly reduce any post-operative swelling.
What are the Complications of Blepharoplasty, Eyelid Reduction, Eye Lift, Eye Bag Removal?
Many of the potential complications of blepharoplasty, eyelid reduction surgery, eye lift surgery and eye bag removal surgery will be minimised by Professor Miranda’s clinical experience and meticulous surgical technique, and careful post-operative follow-up in the dressing clinic. Blepharoplasty is considered to be a very safe cosmetic surgery procedure, however, potential complications include infection, bleeding, scarring, asymmetry, numbness, over-/under-correction, eyelid retraction/ptosis, dry/watery eyes, ectropion/entropion and vision disturbance (less than 0.05% risk of blindness).
