What is Labiaplasty Surgery or Designer Vagina Surgery? | London & Essex
Labia Reduction, Reshaping & Before-and-After Results
Labiaplasty surgery is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to reduce and reshape the labia, most commonly the labia minora (the inner folds of tissue on either side of the vaginal opening). Designer vagina surgery may combine labiaplasty with additional reshaping procedures to achieve a more balanced and refined appearance.
Professor Ben Miranda performs labiaplasty surgery in London Harley Street, Hertfordshire and Essex (Chelmsford & Southend), tailoring each procedure to the individual patient. While having prominent or excess labia tissue is completely normal, some women experience physical discomfort, irritation from underwear, interference during sexual activity, or emotional distress related to the appearance of the labia.
Following labia reduction surgery, many patients experience relief from discomfort caused by excess tissue catching on clothing, as well as an improvement in the overall appearance of the vulval region. Labiaplasty before-and-after images demonstrate how careful surgical reshaping can create natural-looking, proportionate results.

How is Labiaplasty Surgery or Designer Vagina Surgery Performed? | London & Essex
Specialist Cosmetic Surgery Techniques by an Expert Surgeon
Professor Ben Miranda usually performs labiaplasty and designer vagina surgery under local anaesthetic at his London, Hertfordshire and Essex clinics. This approach is well tolerated by patients, reduces anaesthetic risk compared to general anaesthetic, and allows for a faster recovery. Where preferred, sedation or general anaesthetic can also be arranged.
There are several recognised labiaplasty surgery techniques, including the labial trim method and wedge excision technique. During your consultation, Professor Miranda will discuss your goals for labia reduction and reshaping, explain the advantages of each surgical method, and recommend the most appropriate approach for your anatomy and expectations.
Recovery after labiaplasty surgery is usually straightforward. Swelling and soreness are common during the first 48 hours, and activities such as sitting or urinating may feel uncomfortable initially. Showering is permitted after 48 hours, but bathing should be avoided until wounds are fully healed, typically around 2 weeks. Light spotting may occur for up to one week. Patients are advised to wear loose clothing, avoid friction, and refrain from sexual activity for approximately 6 weeks.
What are the Complications of Labiaplasty Surgery or Designer Vagina Surgery? | London & Essex
Labiaplasty surgery and designer vagina surgery are considered safe cosmetic surgery procedures when performed by experienced surgeons. Professor Ben Miranda’s extensive clinical experience, meticulous surgical technique and structured post-operative care help minimise potential risks.
As with all cosmetic surgery, possible complications include infection, bleeding, scarring, asymmetry, numbness, over- or under-reduction of the labia, and changes in genital sensitivity. These risks are discussed in detail during consultation.
